Upward Bound Voice Students Speak Out!

Voice Collage Boards

This is a collage board created by two of this summer's Upward Bound 10th grade Voice students. They did an excellent job of creating something that looks great & speaks truth. The collage board titled, "Avoiding Tobacco" is divided into 4 sections. The upper right focuses on protecting image, the bottom right highlights the benefits of saving money, and the bottom left emphasizes staying healthy. All of these three areas of the collage are the benefits of abstaining from tobacco. The upper left section exposes the horrible toxins that are in tobacco.

Welcome

Welcome to Tobacco Free Grant County!

Our Primary Goals are:

-Increase the percentage of non-smoking adults through promotion of Indiana’s Tobacco Quitline.
-Decrease the percentage of women who smoke during pregnancy.
-Decrease the initiation of tobacco use among youth through VOICE programming and activism.
-Increase the number of school corporations with 100% tobacco-free campus policies.
Build Grant County’s Tobacco Coalition.

We support VOICE. Voice has three key messages:
--Empower teens with the information they need to fight back against the Tobacco Industry and reduce tobacco use in Indiana.
--We are not against smokers. We are against the Tobacco Industry.
--We want to expose the unfair marketing practices, lies and manipulation of the Tobacco Industry, targeting teens to replace dead smokers.

We support the Indiana Tobacco Cessation and Prevention QuitLine. The Indiana Tobacco Quitline provides free, confidential telephone counseling for smokers and tobacco users who want to quit. Highly trained Quit Coaches help the caller create an individualized quit plan and then arrange four telephone-counseling sessions with the individual. Callers also receive a Quit Kit in the mail and 2 weeks of free Nicotine Replacement Therapy. (Pregnant women receive 10 counseling cessions and no NR.T)
